ReSTOR Lens

Serving Longmont, Lafayette and the Northern Colorado region

The ReSTOR Lens by Alcon was recently approved by the Food and Drug Administration. The ReSTOR Lens is believed to be the most reliable lens in providing a full range of vision after implantation. The ReSTOR Lens can correct near-sightedness, far-sightedness, and presbyopia. Presbyopia refers to a diminishing ability to read fine print that typically occurs after the age of forty. The main cause of presbyopia is the aging of the material in your eye.

Cataract surgery is used to replace a patient's natural lens when it becomes cloudy and difficult to see through. The ReSTOR Lens is available for patients who need cataract surgery. The ReSTOR Lens is used to create a fuller range of vision than the single lens replacement traditionally used with cataract surgery.

The ReSTOR Lens replaces your natural lens with the material AcrySof. This proven material has been used for over a decade in cataract replacement procedures. The ReSTOR Lens features a series of stair steps. These steps divide light through a process known as apodization. Essentially, these steps divide light and energy needed to focus for near, intermediate, and far away objects.

The ReSTOR Lens is implanted on an outpatient basis. Under a local anesthetic, your surgeon makes a small incision in the side of your eye. Through this incision, your natural lens is removed and the ReSTOR Lens is permanently implanted. You can return to normal activities in a few days.
