Low Vision

Low vision is a vision impairment that causes a person to lose part of their vision. It’s different from blindness because there is still typically usable vision. Low vision prevents a patient from seeing adequately to perform daily activities.

Reasons for Low Vision

There are many different eye diseases or conditions that can lead to low vision, including:

  • Macular degeneration
  • Glaucoma
  • Diabetic retinopathy
  • Retinal detachment
  • Cataracts
  • Head trauma / brain injury
  • Stroke

Low vision does not mean your visual life is over. The Eye Care Center of Northern Colorado has partnered with Ensight Skills Center to provide low vision services at our Lafayette location. Our doctors will treat your eyes with various forms of visual rehabilitation or surgery.
