I am Aimee Verner, and I am a cornea, external disease and refractive specialist. I started at the Eye Care Center of Northern Colorado in September 2018. I moved here to Longmont with my 2-1/2-year-old and my husband. I grew up in a medical family; my father is a pathologist, so I always kind of had medicine in the background. As far as ophthalmology, I was lucky in that I never had a lot of eye problems as a child, so my first exposure to it was in medical school when I did a rotation in an ophthalmology service. I loved the surgeries, I loved that the ophthalmologists were specialists in their fields. One of my mentors in training once told me, “Aimee, don’t worry about anything else; just make sure that you are putting the patient’s best interest first and then everything else will fall into place,” so that is something I always try to keep in mind.
